Day Care Vaughan

Welcome to Peekaboo Day Care Vaughan! When we were looking for care for our first daughter, we wanted only the best - a place where she would grow and learn and of course, have fun! Our eldest daughter attended Peekaboo for three years before entering the school system and we were so impressed with the high quality of care that Peekaboo provided that we chose to become part of the Peekaboo family by opening our own centre. Our two younger children now also attend our new Vaughan location.

Peekaboo Vaughan was the 13th Peekaboo Child Care Centre to open and is located in the Pine Valley Business Park at Pine Valley and Highway 7.  We are in a 10,000 square foot professionally designed facility to accommodate 142 children from Infant to Kindergarten age. We also have an indoor gymnasium and a 5,000 square foot outdoor playground with climbers, grass and trees.   

Our supervisor, Maggie Scott, became an NNEB (the equivalent of Canada's ECE) in 1986 and in 1990 became the Vice Principle of a Montessori school in Essex, England.  Within three years Maggie opened her own centre and in 1994 opened her second.  During this time, Maggie studied Child Psychology for two years and it was at this time that her special interest grew for children with special needs.  Over the years, Maggie has attended many training courses on Autism, Aspergers, ADHD, Speech and Language, Behaviour Management, Signing and was on the Steering Committee at her local college for the Advanced Diploma in Childcare.  Maggie's centres also won a business award for Training and Development.

In 2000 the NNEB programme was abolished and a new qualification, the Diploma in Early Childcare and Education was introduced.  Maggie retrained for two years to gain this qualification to ensure she was abreast with new legislation.  In 2002 Maggie was approached by the National Day Nurseries Association in England to mentor childcare centres in the Essex region to raise standards and provide a higher quality childcare.  In 2003 Maggie was also approached by an inner London region to mentor their centres with a view to raising and maintaining standards.

In 2005 Maggie emigrated to Canada with her family and worked in a Reggio Emilia school, where she undertook her equivalency with the AECEO until she joined Peekaboo Vaughan in August 2008 as our Supervisor. We are thrilled to have Maggie on our team and she is supported by Andrea Lamarucciola, our Assistant Supervisor.
